Manitoba Transportation and
Infrastructure is providing an update on
repair work to the Shell River Bridge on
Provincial Trunk Highway 83 near
Inglis. The bridge remains closed following
significant damage caused by
heavy rainfall in June.
A detour remains in place via
Provincial Road 482 through Shellmouth
and Dropmore.
Engineering assessments have been
completed, temporary steel supports
have been installed and demolition of the
damaged south abutment is complete.
Work is now focused on constructing a
new foundation and abutment, to be followed
by rebuilding the riverbank and
roadway approaches.
The bridge is expected to reopen to
traffic in December, subject to weather
conditions and construction progress.
Final project work and cleanup are
expected to be completed by early next
summer.
