Former members of the Foxwarren Ladies Fastball team returned to the diamond on Saturday, July 11, to celebrate decades of friendship, competition and community, at a reunion that brought together players, families and supporters from across the years. Despite temperatures reaching 36 (feeling closer to 46), former players, ranging in age from 40 to 70+, enthusiastically returned to the field to square off against the local Fox Vegas Slowpitch team. There was plenty of laughter and good-natured competition as family members helped round out the teams. There were even a few of the regular fans from years back cheering everyone on, and at one point, the familiar “Rowdie” cheer echoed across the old ball diamond. Given that the opposition was an official slowpitch team, the ladies agreed to play by their rules making the innings verrryyy long and verrryyy hot, but in the end the ‘Has Beens’ officially beat Fox Vegas at their own game; (at least that is how it was reported to the Editor).
