On Oct. 11, Conservation officers requested assistance with a person they caught driving while prohibited.
Members attended and assisted with processing the individual.

MOR wants assurances
The Municipality of Roblin (MOR) has formally requested that Prairie Mountain Health (PMH) ensures the municipality is protected from any liability while building fire sprinklers are being installed in the hospital and personal care home.
In 2016, Manitoba Fire Code legislation was enacted requiring all hospitals and personal care homes in Manitoba to have building fire sprinklers installed by Jan.1, 2026.

Raising the roofs in Togo
A “gargantuan project” at the Village of Togo to have the roofs of the community’s skating and curling rinks re-shingled, which cost a total of $200,000, was completed in September.
The project was spearheaded by the Togo Centennial Committee which began talking about the need to replace the roofs in April 2016 and started fundraising for the project the next year.

PC association holds AGM
Adding to its “war chest” for the next provincial election and increasing representation across the constituency were just two of the goals discussed Oct. 9 as the Swan River Progressive Conservation Association held its annual general meeting in Roblin.
Close to two dozen people took the time – even though the Jets’ home opener was on TV noted MLA Rick Wowchuk – to attend the meeting held at the Roblin Golf & Country Club.

RF&R hosts pancake breakfast
The Roblin Fire & Rescue department’s annual fall fundraising pancake breakfast on Thanksgiving Sunday was another success with patrons keeping the batter maker and the boys on the griddles and the coffee pots busy from 8 a.m. until noon.
Five active members have 210 years of fire fighting experience among and posed for a photo together for posterity.

Grand reopening coming
Programming at the Roblin Centennial Arena is well underway, and although there are a few finishing touches with regards to the arena accessibility project, this has not impacted the start of another great season of active living opportunities at one of our primary facilities!
If you have not yet seen the substantial changes, stay tuned for an upcoming “Grand Re-Opening” once the project is fully complete.

Another amazing gift
Local philanthropist Bill Welcher has come through with another gift to help secure the community’s future.
Welcher, who made a $50,000 contribution to the Roblin Children Center’s building fund back in 2020, stopped by the daycare recently with another $50,000 cheque, much to the delight of the board, the staff and the kids.

PADCOM, AGG partnering up
The company that owns and operates the Port of Churchill and Manitoba’s only potash producer have signed a strategic partnership aimed at establishing Manitoba as a leading supplier of sustainable potash to the world.
Arctic Gateway Group (AGG) and PADCOM (the Potash and Agri Development Corporation of Manitoba) say this collaboration will help to unlock global potash markets, strengthen northern infrastructure and supply chains, and support Indigenous and locally-led economic growth and job creation.

On Friday, Oct. 3, Roblin’s HERO Club proudly celebrated its 25th anniversary – a milestone that highlights a quarter-century of compassion, connection, and community support for individuals living with mental health.
Far more than just a gathering place, the HERO Club has long served as a safe and welcoming environment where members can be themselves, free from judgment.

It's Library Month
October is a month full of events, I found 32 health awareness events happening as well as Thanksgiving but October is also Canadian Library Month.
Upcoming events this month at the library include: Book Club meeting on Oct. 15 at 5 p.m.; STEAM Oct 16, 2 to 6 p.m. focuses on building paddle boats and STEAM Oct. 2, 2 to 6 p.m., focused on flipbook animation.
