National Day for Truth and Reconciliation walk took place last Wednesday (Sept. 30) in Swan River. Hosted by the Elbert Chartrand Friendship Centre (ECFC), the day included a march down Main Street in Swan River, followed by a lunch back at the hall. The day honours residential school survivors, while remembering the children who never returned home, and to confront the painful history and lasting impacts of the Canadian Indian residential school system. The event started with an opening ceremy inside the ECFC with the walk following. Pictured is a large group of local residents that took part in the walk, who made the trek down Main Street wearing orange and holding up flags in honour of survivors.
