Roblin ER services suspended again

Prairie Mountain Health has announced another temporary suspension of emergency services at the Roblin Health Centre.

Until further notice, there will be no emergency services available in Roblin from Monday to Friday.

CF Parkland hands out grants

Community Futures Parkland (CFP) is pleased to announce its 2022 grant recipients.

There were a total of 13 Community Project applications received requesting $34,523.77 from the CFP grants program.

NWMC tackles GBV

The issue of Gender Based Violence (GBV) is increasing more and more, and as the rise of incidents is occurring, the need for education on it is becoming apparent.

The Northwest Métis Council (NWMC) is taking on a huge role by creating an education and awareness program on GBV for Métis citizens in the region.

While Donor’s Choice canvassers definitely missed going door-to-door during the pandemic – with all the visiting and the fresh air – the committee has decided to stay with a mail drop campaign for 2022.

“This decision was made prior to the government changes in Covid rules and regulations, however, for the continued safety and peace of mind of canvassers and citizens, we will be using the mail drop again this year,” noted longtime volunteer and board member Kathy Russett.

Stand With Ukraine tickets going fast

Many people are sitting back and watching the tragedy unfold in Ukraine wondering why isn’t anyone doing anything and how can one help? A dedicated group of Roblinites have stepped up and decided to do something.

The “Stand With Ukraine”  event, consisting of dinner and a comedy show, is set for April 2 and is being organized to help raise funds to support a family from Ukraine to immigrate to Roblin.

U13 Stars win provincial title

The U13 Roblin Stars attended the U13 Rural “C” Hockey Manitoba provincials in Grandview March 11 to 13.

The Stars took to the ice on Friday for their first game of the weekend, against the Holland Rockets and ended the game with a 4-2 victory.

That evening, the Stars were part of the opening ceremonies, featuring nine teams who attended the tournament.

Romance scams costly

As the old song goes, many people are often “looking for love in all the wrong places”.

While it may seem comical to some, it’s not funny to those who have loved ones fall prey to romance scams and lose their life savings.

According to the Canadian Anti-Fraud Centre (CAFC), romance scams are one of the top 10 frauds affecting Canadians, and in 2020, it has taken over $18.5 million dollars from its victims.
