Norway House RCMP officers deliver a baby
The morning of May 20, 2022, was not like a start to any other shift for Cst. Dylan Fedrau and Cst. Lindsay Bawn of Norway House RCMP. While responding to a call for service, both officers entered a residence in Kinosao Sipi First Nation to find a mother in labour. They jumped into action to assist her. Cst. Bawn cared for the mother and Cst. Fedrau delivered the baby.
MMF Vice President part of delegation to Rome
Delegates from the Manitoba Metis Federation (MMF) travelled to Rome on April 18 to meet with Pope Francis. This was a separate meeting from the group of Indigenous delegates who met with the Pope earlier and received a long overdue, but historic apology for the trauma inflicted by residential schools in Canada.
The MMF selected delegates that were cabinet members, Metis elders and youth, as well as residential school survivors and some bishops to embark on this journey.
Community groups receive financial support
Spring sprung early as Community Futures Cedar Lake Region once again took advantage of the nice weather, and was out in the community presenting cheques on behalf of the “Investing in Our Futures” grant, which was created to support community projects that add to the general well-being of a community, while stimulating economic growth.
Presenting the cheques on behalf of Community Futures Cedar Lake were Joe Cote, General Manager, Carrie Atkinson, Chairperson, and Rod Berezowecki, Treasurer.
