An investigation is underway into an intentionally set fire at a local apartment block over the weekend.
Shortly before 11 p.m., Mar. 5, Dauphin Fire Department (DFD) was dispatched to a report of fire alarms sounding at an apartment block in the south east area of the city.
Upon arrival, firefighters were met by occupants who had evacuated and were told there was a fire on the second floor of one of the units.
Crews entered the apartment and encountered thick smoke and extremely hot conditions.
They quickly knocked down the fire they found in a second floor hallway and proceeded to the bedrooms to search the areas and open windows to allow the smoke and heat to escape. They then found two other separate fires in one of the bedrooms.
The fires were intentionally set and the incident is being further investigated by DFD and the RCMP.
If anyone has any additional information related to this fire, they are asked to contact the Dauphin RCMP detachment at 204-622-5050.
